Project coordinated by Artists and Education. Assisting year 10 pupils to design
and create craft products for a retail environment considering costs, profit margins
and marketing and creating a business plan.
January - July 2009 - Crafts = Skills for Life, coordinated by Craftspace. See featured
project.
June 2009 - Sheep at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester. Assisting 120 children from four
primary schools to make felted flower designs to be incorporated into a large wool
felt rug by inviting visitors to join in a wool dance on the piece over a weekend.
June 2009 - Birmingham Nature Centre. Demonstrating how wool from the centre’s own
sheep can be processed into felted products.
May 2009 - Felt Ray making workshop at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester for children
ages 8+
May 2009 - How Art is Made, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Demonstrating materials
and methods to museum visitors
February 2009 - Felt Snake making workshop at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester for children

Showcase Project...
Crafts = Skills for Life, coordinated by Craftspace. Jamie worked as a lead artist
on this pilot scheme for an ongoing project.
Placed at Braidwood School for the Deaf , Jamie worked with year 7 pupils designing
felted wool products for a retail Environment during eight day sessions. Inspired
by a visit to the Hussein Chalayan show at the Design Museum the children experimented
with making 3D felt shapes with LED fairy lights trapped between layers of wool.
